Inventory management software for Shopify, down to what every unit cost
Landara is inventory management software for Shopify stores. Raise purchase orders, receive stock, match supplier invoices, run stocktakes and move stock between locations, while Shopify keeps the count. Every delivery keeps its own cost, so you always know what your stock is worth and your first-in, first-out (FIFO) cost of goods sold.
Free plan available. Works with Xero and QuickBooks Online.
From the purchase order to the cost of goods sold
The inventory work a growing Shopify store does every week, in the order it happens.
Purchase orders
Raise an order to a supplier in their currency, record deposits and payments, and send it to Xero as a purchase order. Approval rules on the larger plans.
Incoming stock and pre-sell
Ordered stock shows as incoming in Shopify. On paid plans, put stock that is still on its way on sale, capped at what you ordered.
Receiving
Receive part or all of an order and mark lines short, over or damaged. The units move to available in Shopify and are costed the same day.
Supplier invoices matched
Ordered, received and invoiced compared line by line. A price or quantity difference is flagged before anything is costed.
Stocktakes
Count by hand or with a barcode scanner, review the variance with its cost, and push corrected counts back to Shopify.
Locations and transfers
Stock moved between your Shopify locations keeps the cost it arrived at, so each location is valued on its own stock.
Stock on hand and valuation
What you hold, what it is worth and how long it has sat there, checked against Shopify's own counts.
Cost of goods sold
Each sale costed from the oldest stock on hand, and a ready-to-post journal for Xero or QuickBooks Online at month end.

Shopify keeps the count. Landara keeps everything else.
An inventory app that keeps its own stock count beside Shopify's has to keep the two in step, and any gap between them is a question nobody can answer. Landara keeps no second count. Shopify stays the one record of how many units you have, and Landara manages the rest of the stock's life around it.
Shopify
- How many units are available, incoming and on hand
- Orders, fulfilments and returns
- Your products, variants and locations
Landara
- What you ordered, from whom, and what is still to come
- What arrived, and what the supplier billed for it
- What each delivery cost, freight and duty included
- What your stock is worth, and what it cost when it sold
Why cost is the part to get right
Shopify holds one Cost per item for each product. Your stock arrives in deliveries at different prices, with freight and duty billed weeks later, so one number per product is wrong for at least one of them. Most stores end up with a spreadsheet that holds the real figures and never sees a sale.
Landara keeps a cost for every delivery and draws them down oldest first, the FIFO way, as orders ship. The purchase order, the receipt and the supplier invoice all feed that cost, so the inventory management and the accounting come from the same record.
Freight and duty in the unit cost
Allocated across the delivery they belong to, before that stock's cost settles. Recoverable import tax stays out.
A cost per delivery, not per product
Two containers bought at two prices stay two costs, and each sale takes the oldest first.
Month end ready for your bookkeeper
Cost of goods sold and closing stock value come from the same ledger, so they agree.
What Landara does not do
Landara is not a warehouse management system. It does not pick, pack or dispatch orders, and it does not forecast demand or set reorder points. If you need those, Landara runs beside the tool that does them. It is for Shopify stores only.
Inventory management questions
Is Landara inventory management software?
Yes, for Shopify stores. Landara runs purchase orders, receiving, supplier invoices, stocktakes and stock across locations, and keeps the cost of every unit. It works beside Shopify rather than replacing it: Shopify keeps the stock count and takes the orders, and Landara manages what you buy, what arrives and what it cost.
Does Landara replace Shopify inventory?
No. Shopify stays the record of how many units you have, and Landara never keeps a second stock count to argue with it. When you receive a purchase order, Landara moves the units into Shopify, and a stocktake can push corrected counts back to Shopify. Everything about cost lives in Landara.
Can I raise purchase orders and receive stock?
Yes. Raise a purchase order to a supplier, and the ordered stock shows as incoming in Shopify. Receive it in Landara when it arrives, part or whole, and mark lines short, over or damaged. The units move to available in Shopify and are costed the same day, at the order price, until the supplier invoice corrects it.
Does it check the supplier invoice against the purchase order?
Yes. Landara compares what you ordered, what arrived and what was invoiced, line by line. A price or quantity difference is flagged as soon as the invoice is read, before anything is costed, and costing waits until someone accepts it.
Does it handle stocktakes and more than one location?
Yes. Run a stocktake at one location or all of them, by hand or with a barcode scanner, review the variance with its cost, and push the corrected counts to Shopify. Stock moved between locations keeps the cost it arrived at.
Does Landara do picking, packing, forecasting or reorder points?
No. Landara is not a warehouse system and does not pick, pack or dispatch orders, and it does not forecast demand or set reorder points. It covers buying, receiving, counting and costing, which is the part of inventory management that decides what your stock is worth.
Which accounting software does it work with?
Xero and QuickBooks Online. Landara prepares the cost of goods sold journal for you to review and post, and publishes supplier bills with the original document attached. Purchase orders and supplier payments go to Xero only for now.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. Purchase orders, receiving, the full cost ledger, inventory valuation and stocktakes are on every plan, including Free. Paid plans add posting journals to Xero or QuickBooks, pre-selling stock that is on order, and larger order volumes. The pricing page has the details.
