Plans & order volume
How Landara meters usage (costed shipments and orders), the plan tiers, order-volume bands, and Shopify vs direct billing.
Updated 2 September 2026
Landara meters two different things depending on which part of the product you use. Understanding the difference makes it easy to pick the right plan.
Calculations vs orders
| Metered unit | What it counts | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Calculation | One shipment (a PO plus its linked bills) | Landed cost |
| Order | Shopify orders costed in the period | FIFO COGS |
A calculation is one shipment, no matter how many documents it contains. A PO plus three freight bills is still one calculation.
How you're billed depends on how you signed up
| You signed up via | Billing | Team |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify App Store | Flat monthly rate, via Shopify | Unlimited users |
| Direct (landara.co) | Free tier: upgrade by installing the Shopify app | Unlimited users |
Both give your whole organisation shared connections, documents, and history. Shipment limits are per organisation and shared across your whole team.
Plans
Billing runs through the Shopify App Store at a flat rate per organisation (no seats). Every paid plan can be paid monthly or yearly, and paying yearly saves 17%.
| Tier | Calculations | Order volume | Post journals | Monthly | Yearly |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 10 / month | Up to 250 / month | No | $0 | n/a |
| COGS | Unlimited | Up to 500 / month | Yes | $49 / month | $490 / year |
| COGS Growth | Unlimited | Up to 2,000 / month | Yes | $89 / month | $890 / year |
| COGS Scale | Unlimited | Up to 10,000 / month | Yes | $179 / month | $1,790 / year |
You pick monthly or yearly on Shopify's plan selection page when you start your trial or change plan. Both intervals carry the same features and the same order band, and the free trial applies either way. Free has no yearly option because there is nothing to prepay.
The boundary between Free and the paid plans is posting and automation: posting journals to Xero or QuickBooks (COGS, revaluation, write-down and shrinkage), automatic journals on each Shopify payout, unlimited costed shipments, unlimited stocktake lines and stocktake collection filters. COGS Growth and above add the purchase order approval workflow. Beyond that, paid plans differ on order volume alone. The full FIFO cost ledger, the COGS report, inventory valuation, reconcile, stocktake and CSV export are on every plan, including Free.
Every paid plan starts with a 30-day free trial, long enough to cover a full month end close before you pay anything. The Free plan has no time limit, so sitting on it costs you nothing and does not use up your trial.
Nothing is charged during the trial. When it ends, Shopify charges your store the plan price you picked, monthly or yearly, on your regular Shopify bill, and keeps charging each interval until you cancel. Cancel from your Shopify admin before the trial ends and you are never billed; cancelling later stops the next charge rather than refunding the interval you are in, and your CSV export keeps working either way.
Order-volume bands
Plans are sized by how many Shopify orders you cost each month. Your current band is always visible under Settings → Billing, with a meter showing usage against your plan.
Bands are measured over the calendar month (the 1st to the last day, in your reporting timezone), not from your billing date. That means an annual subscriber is metered exactly like a monthly one, and there is no proration to think about.
Your reporting timezone is set from your Shopify store timezone when you install Landara, and you can change it under Settings → Locale. It is the same boundary your COGS months use, so a store trading close to midnight can see an order fall either side of a month end depending on it.
- Go to Dashboard → Settings → Billing.
- Check your order volume for the period against your plan band.
- If you're consistently over, move up a band; if well under, move down.

Nearing a limit? Landara shows a warning at 75% so there are no surprises.
Going over a band never stops your sales being costed. FIFO works by replaying a complete timeline of movements, so a gap in the middle would make every figure after it wrong. Your COGS report, your per-SKU breakdown and your CSV export are never restricted, on any plan.
What happens if you stay over
We allow 10% over your band before anything changes, and we look at your average over the last three months, not a single month. One busy month is a sale or a Black Friday, not a reason to move you up.
If that three-month average is more than 10% above your band, you will not be able to post the COGS journal to Xero or QuickBooks until you move up a band. Everything else keeps working: you still get the figures, and you can enter the journal manually.
You will know at the start of the month, not at month end. The check uses the three months that were already complete when the month began, so a busy month can never stop you closing that same month, and you always have time to change plan before your close.
The Free plan
Free is not a crippled trial. It keeps a full FIFO cost ledger against every Shopify order, fulfilment and return, and it gives you the COGS report, inventory valuation, reconcile against Shopify on-hand, stocktake with barcode scanning, connections to Xero, QuickBooks and Shopify, and CSV export of everything.
What Free does not include:
| Limit | Free | Paid |
|---|---|---|
| Post journals to Xero / QuickBooks | No | Yes |
| Landed cost calculations | 10 per month | Unlimited |
| Stocktake lines per count | 25 | Unlimited |
| Orders costed per month | Up to 250 | 500 to 10,000 by plan |
Your CSV export stays available even after you cancel. No bookkeeper should build a month end process on a tool that can hold the workings hostage, so we do not.
