Open the calculatorAllocate by Quantity
Distribute additional costs evenly per unit. Each unit gets the same share of freight, duty, and other costs regardless of its value.
Formula:
Allocated Cost = (Item Qty ÷ Total Qty) × Total CostBest for:
- Similar-sized or same-weight products
- Container loads with uniform items
- Simple cost allocation needs
Allocate by Value
Distribute additional costs proportionally by value. Higher-value items absorb a larger share of freight, duty, and other costs.
Formula:
Allocated Cost = (Line Value ÷ Total Value) × Total CostBest for:
- Mixed-value shipments
- Duty calculations (often based on value)
- Insurance cost allocation

What is Landed Cost?
Landed cost is the total cost of getting a product to your door. It includes:
- Product cost - what you pay the supplier
- Freight - shipping, handling, drayage, port fees
- Duty & taxes - import duty, GST, VAT, customs fees
- Other costs - insurance, broker fees, inspections
Knowing your true landed cost is essential for accurate pricing, margin calculations, and inventory valuation.

Want this on every Shopify order?
These calculators are great for a one-off cost. Landara connects to Shopify and costs every order for you, perpetual FIFO (or moving average), then hands your bookkeeper a ready-to-post COGS journal for Xero or QuickBooks. Import your stock? Freight and duty land into every unit.
