If you still run a heavier IMS (Cin7, Katana, or similar), or let Landara sync costs back to Shopify, remember that whichever app writes to Shopify's product cost field last "wins." That's not a bug; it's how Shopify's inventory API works.
What to do before syncing costs
- Check if your inventory app writes to the cost field. Some only read costs. Those are fine alongside Landara.
- Test with a single SKU first. Sync one product's landed cost from Landara, then check whether your inventory app overwrites it.
- Decide which system is your source of truth for costs. If Landara is calculating your landed costs, it should be the last to write. If your inventory app needs to manage costs, you can still use Landara for the calculation and export via CSV instead.

Common questions
Landara reads your products, inventory, orders and fulfilments, because costing every sale is what the COGS module does. It never reads customer names, emails, phone numbers or shipping addresses: from an order we take only the line items, quantities, inventory location, and the identifiers and dates needed to cost the movement.

Yes. From a single shipment, you can sync landed costs to Shopify and publish freight invoices to Xero or QuickBooks. They serve different purposes: Shopify gets your product costs, accounting software gets your bills.
If another app writes to Shopify's product cost field, whichever system writes last will be the value that sticks. We recommend testing with a single SKU first to see how your setup behaves. If there's a conflict, you can use Landara's CSV export to update costs through your inventory app instead.

When you sync a shipment, Landara searches your Shopify store for products matching each SKU from your purchase order. The search uses Shopify's GraphQL API in real-time. There are no mapping tables to maintain. If a product has multiple variants, Landara matches to the specific variant with the matching SKU.
